QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Why Soy ?

We choose to work with soy wax for a variety of reasons. Our  Soy wax is a natural, eco-friendly, renewable, American grown, sustainable, carbon neutral. Soy wax is biodegradable.  Soy wax burns cooler and lower melting point then commercials candles such paraffin. We love that it burns more cleanly, longer period of time than traditional paraffin wax candles. We love the way soy wax smells mixed with a good fragrance. Soy candles are better for the environment and your health: they are non-toxic and burn cleaner than paraffin wax. It produces as much as 90% less soot than paraffin wax. This soot that are commonly found in paraffin candles can blacken jars, contaminate ventilation ductwork in your home, and most importantly, add toxic carcinogens( a substance capable of causing cancer in living tissue) into the air that you breathe.

How is Soy Wax made?

Natural Soy wax is vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. The bean are harvesting , cleaned, cracked, and dehulled and rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenation. The hydrogenation process converts some of the fatty acids in the oil from unsaturated to saturated. This process dramatically alters the melting point of the oil, making it a solid at room temperature.

Why is the scent not strong enough?

All our Soy candles and Wax melts goes through a thorough burn and smell test. Soy wax isn't intended to be strong. Soy wax is very sensitive , it burns cooler and with lower temperature causing it to release a soothing soft aroma.  If you come across a soy wax candle that that is powerful it's likely  additives are added or possible blended with other waxes. Most soy candles on the market are not 100% soy, and contain a high percentage of poisonous paraffin in there waxes that is harmful to health. We pride ourselves on The  safety of our customers are topic priority as well as health and wellness. you should stick to candles that use natural oils to create a soothing smell and  release a soothing natural oils gradually in the air that's toxin free such as ours products.

Why Isn't more fragrance ADDED to make scent stronger?

There is a maximum amount of fragrance that can be added to a candle before it no longer burns cleanly or properly adding to much oil can be risky and possible flammable.

What do I do if the flame is too large?

Immediately place lid over flame, let wax harden, trim wick and relight the candle, it will adjust and burn correctly. Remember to always trim wick before and after re-lighting.

Why can't I smell the fragrance oil in my candle?

Is the room to large? ( open space, high ceilings, ) suggested space/room size  11 "4'  by 13' 4" anything bigger then that we suggest for you get two candles  instead of one. Sometimes simply leaving the room, door shut and coming back in can make all the difference. Natural Soy wax is  created to release a soothing pleasant scent in a gradually manner.

How long do your candles last?

Soy wax burns slow and cooler burning temperatures he scent is released in the in the air in more gradual manner. As long as you keep the wick trimmed and only burn them for 3-4 hours at a time or until wax hits edge of jar, our 9oz  Candles last approximately  up to 70 hours which varies from person to person.

Why should I trim the wick and only burn your candles for 3-4 hours at a time?

These are common instructions and good practices for any candle and are meant to prolong a candle’s burn time. A longer wick creates a larger flame, a larger flame melts the wax faster, and the wax melts faster than the wick burns away. So the longer your candle burns, the larger the flame gets, causing your candle to melt faster and faster. Keeping the wick trimmed and burning 3-4 hours at a time slows everything down so you get a longer burn time.

Additionally, burning your candle for 3-4 hours at a time ensures that the wax melts all the way to the edge of the container. The melted wax (not the flame) is what gives off your candle’s scent, so this will maximize your candle’s scent when lit. It will also prevent your candle from “tunneling”, or burning a hole down the center of the candle while leaving a ring of un-melted wax along the inside of the container.

As long as you are using our wax melts for their intended purposes, it will be safe to use around your dogs and cats. We do not recommend using our wax melts around birds. Birds are highly sensitive, fragrances and can only handle very controlled climates. If you have any other exotic pets, we recommend consulting with your vet.

Not at this time. We will in the near future.

My Soy Melts have spots of color in them is this normal?

Yes this is completely normal. Some of the fragrance oils used to scent the wax melts also contain essential oils.  Because essential oils come from plant and flower sources, sometimes these oils have natural colorations in them. Especially, oils such as spices, lemon, and cinnamon. This then has an affect on the soy wax which is why some candles might not be pure white. However, this does not effect the performance of soy candle nor wax melt.
